The “Books Still” brief set by the ISTD Student Competition 2025, considering how the books are being used as devices for communication during the 21st century.
A great concern of the 21st century is lower attention spans, as well as, the decline of physical media. The outcome questions traditional book design and constantly plays with the reader’s attention.
A typographic interpretation of “Story of Your Life” by Ted Chaing, which uses the themes and format of the story to enhance the reading experience. It uses concepts from ergodic literature, integrating typographic design into its narrative.
Because the story is told through the different timelines of Louise’s life, multiple typefaces have been used to differentiate between them.
